How to Try CADlink Digital Factory V12 Free Before You Buy a DTF RIP

If you run a DTF printer, your RIP software decides how good your prints look. It controls the white underbase, how colours are managed, and how many designs fit on one sheet of film. CADlink Digital Factory is the RIP most DTF shops use, and the good news is you don’t have to pay before trying it.

The official free trial
CADlink (now owned by Fiery, so you may see the name “Fiery Digital Factory”) offers a 15-day trial of Digital Factory 12. It’s the full software: no watermark, no locked features, and no credit card needed. You fill in a short form, get a download link by email, install it on a Windows 10 or 11 PC, and register the trial when you first open it.

Before you download
Digital Factory runs on 64-bit Windows only. There’s no Mac version, so Mac users usually set up a separate Windows PC as their RIP station. Aim for 16 GB of RAM and an SSD if you plan to build large gang sheets. Install the RIP on the same computer that connects to your printer.

V11 or V12?
Lots of people still search for the V11 trial, but V12 is the current version and the one the trial installs today. V12 includes Fiery-powered colour management, a built-in gang sheet builder and adjustable underbase strength, so there’s no reason to start a new setup on V11.

Desktop or Production edition?
Choose by how wide you print. The Desktop edition covers A3/A2 printers and rolls up to 17 inches, such as Epson L1800, ET-8550 conversions and the Procolored K13 Lite. The Production (Large Format) edition is for 24-inch and wider printers and shops running several printers, and it adds hot folders and a production manager.

How to get the most out of 15 days
Don’t just open the software and look around. Print real jobs: a design with fine detail, one with large white areas, and a full gang sheet. Adjust the underbase strength and try the saturation rendering intent. By the end of the trial you’ll know whether your prints are better than with the software that came with your printer.

What about free DTF RIP software?
Printer-bundled software works for basics but usually has weaker white-ink and colour control. Cracked RIP downloads are a bad idea: they often carry malware, fail to activate and come without printer profiles or support. The official trial is the only free option that gives you the real thing.

After the trial
If you keep it, the licence is lifetime with no subscription. You enter an activation code under Help > Register and your settings stay. DTF Gears has a step-by-step CADlink software download and free trial guide that walks through the install, system requirements and edition choice in more detail, and you can compare CADlink editions and pricing before you decide.
